Susheela Jayapal Announces Raising over $300,000
Portland, OR. – Today former Multnomah County Commissioner and Democratic candidate for Congress in Oregon’s Third Congressional District Susheela Jayapal announced raising more than $300,000 to date, with $277,000 raised in the first eight weeks of the campaign for the Q4 period ending in 2023. Much of Jayapal’s fundraising has been from small donors with an average donation in Q4 of less than $200. Nearly seventy percent of dollars raised were from Oregon.
“I’m humbled by the outpouring of support that I’ve gotten the first few weeks of this campaign and so excited to build on this momentum. I’ve talked to so many that know we need an unwavering progressive voice in Congress to stand up for our values and bring us together to create the thriving, equitable community we need, and I’m grateful for the support,” Jayapal announced.
Since resigning from her role as a Multnomah County Commissioner, Jayapal has dedicated her full-time attention to running for OR-03, amassing more than 1,300 individual grassroots donors with an average donation of less than $200.
In the two months since Jayapal announced her run, her campaign has amassed more than 60+ endorsements from local elected and community leaders throughout the district, including: State Senator Kayse Jama, State Representative Tawna Sanchez, Portland City Commissioner Carmen Rubio, local leaders Marcus Mundy, Ernesto Fonseca, and many more. She has also gained the support of statewide and national organizations including the Ironworkers, Aspire PAC, and Indian American Impact.
In Congress, Susheela will continue to be a strong progressive voice, fighting for the health and safety of our community, championing abortion rights, taking on big polluters and fighting climate change, and standing up to election deniers to defend our democracy. She’s committed to ensuring America lives up to its promise of opportunity for all, with no community left behind; and to the vision of a country that we can be proud to leave to our children and our grandchildren.
